Short, focused, and designed for all levels of (in)experience! Our project classes are proof that you can dip your fingers into clay without investing huge amounts of time and money.
Soap Dish & Soap / Sept 12 $45
1-Session Workshop with Tammie Whitson
Make 12 bars of natural soap AND a ceramic soap dish all in this one unique class offering at Pottery Works Cortland. Learn the basics of cold process soap making and go home with 3 pounds of your very own custom soap. But that’s not all! You’ll also build your own unique ceramic soap dish which will be glazed and fired for pick-up at a later date. Includes all materials and instruction. Participants will receive an equipment list upon registration (common kitchen equipment you’ll be able to use on food again)
Witch Hat Luminary / Sept 17 6-8pm or Sept 19 4-6pm $50
1-Session Workshop with Tina Minervini
No Experience Necessary! Hand-build your own ceramic Witch Hat Luminary. Learn clay basics in this 1 Session Workshop while building and embellishing a luminary of your own. For ages 16+. Course fee includes all materials, glazes, firings, and use of studio tools. Your work will be fired with your choice of glaze and available for pick-up at a later date.
Treat Bag Luminaries / Sept 26 $45

No Experience Necessary! Learn clay basics in this 1 Session Workshop while building, personalizing, and embellishing two Treat Bag Luminaries. For ages 16+. Course fee includes all materials, glazes, firings, and use of studio tools. Your work will be fired with your choice of glaze and available for pick-up at a later date.
Hand-Built Mugs / $65
2-Session Workshop
Learn the fundamentals of hand-building while creating two unique mugs. Build and embellish on the first date -- finish and glaze on the second. Includes all instruction and materials, firings, use of tools, and glazes. For ages 16+
Thrown Mugs / For ages 16+
Prerequisite Basic Throwing Level 1
This 2 session course will provide instruction in how to throw mugs of various shapes. Discover your favorite mug style to throw and learn how to pull and attach handles. Take home as many mugs as you can make with the clay provided. Students will glaze their pieces outside of class. Course fee includes 10 pounds of clay, use of tools, all glazes and firings.
