Throwing

Adult Throwing Basic: for ages 16+  /  $250

This 6-week course will provide introductory exposure to, and skill building in the art of wheel throwing. Students will learn to manipulate clay on the potter’s wheel, creating functional, unique and personal pieces. Focus is on centering and throwing basic forms for students with little to no prior pottery experience. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 25+ open practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

Adult Throwing Intermediate: for ages 16+  /  $250

Prerequisite: Basic Throwing

This 6-week Intermediate course provides intermediate and advanced instruction in the art of wheel throwing. Focus is on expanding skill and proficiency on basic forms as well as embellishing techniques and glazes for students with at least one session of Pottery Works Basic Throwing already completed. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 25+ open practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

One Day Wheel Class  /  $80 per participant

No prior experience is required. Our instructor will show and assist you with the basic techniques of throwing on the potter’s wheel. You will get to keep the bowl or cylinder you have successfully created. We will glaze and fire it for you with a glaze of your choosing, and we will email you in approximately 3 weeks to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up. For ages 16+ 

Dirty Date Night: Couples Special  /  $160 per couple

You and your partner will bond while enjoying this introduction to the basic skills of throwing on the potter’s wheel. No prior experience is required. Our instructor will show and assist each of you with the basic techniques of the potter’s wheel. You will each get to keep the bowl or cylinder you have successfully created. We will glaze and fire it for you with a glaze of your choosing, and we will email you in approximately 3 weeks to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up.

Want to sign up with another couple for a Double Dirty Date Night? No problem! Just contact us to add two participants to your booking and we'll add an hour of instruction to make sure everyone gets the assistance they need. Double Dirty Date Nights are 6-9pm, $320.

Trial Spin: for ages 16+  /  $30 per participant

Hand-Building

Adult Hand-Building  /  $250

Under the instruction of Hannah Hones, participants will create functional vessels or sculptural objects by exploring the fundamentals of hand-building. Students will learn the techniques of coil and slab building and glaze their work to create virtually anything they can dream up. The use of tools such as molds, extruded, and the slab roller will be demonstrated. For ages 16+ No previous experience is needed. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of each tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 20+ open practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

 

Pottery For All Tues 1-3pm

This class is open to everyone in the community and includes accommodations for people with special needs and their support staff. Our seasoned instructors offer an introduction to the tactile world of working with clay and guide participants to meet their individual goals through project-based exploration. Fee includes all instruction, materials, and firings.

Or sign up for all 6 weeks at a discounted price of $240.
Support staff are invited to work side-by-side at no extra charge.

Family Clay: S12  /  Saturday 2-4pm

Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 20+ open practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

Hand-Built Mugs  /  June 7th and 21st  6-8pm

2-Session Workshop with Annette McMahon

Learn the fundamentals of hand-building while creating two unique mugs. Includes all instruction and materials, firings, use of tools, and glazes. For ages 16+

Christmas in July: Snowmen Luminaries  /  July 18th 6-8pm

1-Session Workshop with Hannah Hones

No experience necessary! Join Hannah as she guides you through this adorable hand building ceramics project in just one Tuesday evening. Course fee includes all materials, instruction, and firing fees.

Students will learn hand-building techniques; pinch, coil and slab, plus throwing on the pottery wheel. A variety of glazing and decoration methods are explored. No previous experience is required, and new projects are continuously introduced for returning students. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of each tool kit, shelf space, all glazes, and firings. Family pricing is available.

Trial Spin: for ages 8+ (must be accompanied by an adult)  /  $30 per participant

Casual Potters Welcome! We have a variety of studio bisqueware to fit every age, ability, and budget. Choose a mug, bowl, figurine, or serving piece, and get ready to glaze the evening away. We will clear glaze and fire your piece for future pickup. Registration secures your seat and choice of a standard bisqueware piece. Options to upgrade your piece available once you’re in the studio.
