Class Descriptions

 

Throwing

Adult Throwing Beginners: for ages 16+  /  $250 for 6 weeks

This 6-week beginners’ course will provide introductory exposure to, and skill building in, the art of wheel throwing. Students will learn to manipulate clay on the potter’s wheel, creating functional, unique and personal pieces. Focus is on centering and throwing basic forms for students with little to no prior pottery experience. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of each tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 20+ open practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

One Day Wheel Class  /  $80 per participant

No prior experience is required. Our instructor will show and assist you with the basic techniques of throwing on the potter’s wheel. You will get to keep the bowl or cylinder you have successfully created. We will glaze and fire it for you with a glaze of your choosing, and we will email you in approximately 3 weeks to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up. 

Dirty Date Night: Couples Special  /  $160 per couple

You and your partner will bond while enjoying this introduction to the basic skills of throwing on the potter’s wheel. No prior experience is required. Our instructor will show and assist each of you with the basic techniques of the potter’s wheel. You will each get to keep the bowl or cylinder you have successfully created. We will glaze and fire it for you with a glaze of your choosing, and we will email you in approximately 3 weeks to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up.

 

Trial Spin: for ages 16+  /  $30 per participant

Glaze Basics  /  $75 for 3 weeks

In this 3-week class you will learn the basics of what makes a glaze and how to make one. Students will be given a simple base glaze and explore color and texture variations using line and triaxial blending. This will be a bit messy and appropriate attire is required as well as a notebook. All other materials and lab equipment are provided.

 

Hand-building

Adult Hand-building: for ages 16+  /  $250 for 6 weeks

Under the instruction of Scott Oldfield, participants will create functional vessels or sculptural objects by exploring the fundamentals of hand-building. Students will learn the techniques of coil and slab building and glaze their work to create virtually anything they can dream up. The use of tools such as molds, extruded, and the slab roller will be demonstrated. No previous experience is needed. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of each tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 20+ open practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

Mugs: for ages 16+  /  $60 for 2 weeks

2-Week Workshop with Annette McMahon

Learn the fundamentals of hand-building while creating two unique mugs. Includes all instruction and materials, firings, use of tools, and glazes.

Pocket Vases S1 Tues 6-8pm  /  $75 for 2 weeks

2-Week Workshop with Hannah Hones

For ages 16+ In this class you will learn the basics of making a wall mounted pocket vase, with a botanical twist! Students will learn how to draft a paper pattern, pick appropriate plants for making an impression in clay, construct their pocket vase, fire and glaze it. This is a great project for everyone, whether you're just starting out and want to try your hand at ceramics, or an experienced ceramicist wanting to expand your knowledge of surface techniques, All are welcome! Course fee includes clay and materials. 

 

Kids'

Half Day Clay Camp: for ages 8+  /  $50 9am-12pm

Friday, May 27th 

This half day camp is designed for young emerging potters with little to no prior experience. Students will get to try hand-building techniques such as pinch pots, coil, and slab to build their own unique pieces. Course fee includes all materials and use of tools for an immersive introduction to pottery. Completed pieces will be fired and ready for pick up at a later date.

Afterschool Youth Pottery: for ages 8+  /  $240 for 6 weeks

This course is designed for young emerging potters and is scheduled to accommodate their busy school day. Students will learn hand-building techniques; pinch, coil and slab, plus throwing on the pottery wheel. A variety of glazing and decoration methods are explored. No previous experience is required, and new projects are continuously introduced for returning students. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of each tool kit, shelf space, all glazes, and firings. Family pricing is available.

Trial Spin: for ages 8+ (must be accompanied by an adult)  /  $30 per participant

Homeschool

Homeschool Pottery: for ages 8+  /  $240 for 6 weeks

This course is designed for young emerging potters and scheduled to accommodate our homeschooling community. Students will learn hand-building techniques; pinch, coil and slab, plus throwing on the pottery wheel. A variety of decoration methods are explored including extruded elements and glazing techniques. No previous experience is required, and new projects are continuously introduced for returning students. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of each tool kit, shelf space, all glazes, and firings. Family pricing is available.

 
 
 

Glaze Your Own

For all ages  /  Standard Piece $30

Casual Potters Welcome! We have a variety of studio bisqueware to fit every age, ability, and budget. Choose a mug, bowl, figurine, or serving piece, and get ready to glaze the evening away. We will clear glaze and fire your piece for future pickup. Registration secures your seat and choice of a standard bisqueware piece. Options to upgrade your piece available once you’re in the studio. 

Glaze N Sip

For Adults  /  Standard Piece $30

Take arts socializing to the next level. We have a variety of studio bisqueware to fit every budget. Choose a mug, bowl, figurine, or serving piece, add some friends, beverages, and snacks and you’re ready to glaze the evening away. We will clear glaze and fire your piece for future pickup. Registration secures your seat and choice of a standard bisqueware piece. Options to upgrade your piece available once you’re in the studio.
