Throwing

Adult Throwing Basic: for ages 16+  /  $250

This 6-week course will provide introductory exposure to, and skill building in the art of wheel throwing. Students will learn to manipulate clay on the potter’s wheel, creating functional, unique and personal pieces. Focus is on centering and throwing basic forms for students with little to no prior pottery experience. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 30+ Open Practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

Adult Throwing Intermediate: for ages 16+  /  $250

Prerequisite: Basic Throwing

This 6-week Intermediate course provides intermediate and advanced instruction in the art of wheel throwing. Focus is on expanding skill and proficiency on basic forms as well as embellishing techniques and glazes for students with at least one session of Pottery Works Basic Throwing already completed. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 30+ Open Practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

One Day Wheel Class  /  $80 per participant

No prior experience is required. Our instructor will show and assist you with the basic techniques of throwing on the potter’s wheel. You will get to keep the bowl or cylinder you have successfully created. We will glaze and fire it for you with a glaze of your choosing, and we will email you to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up. For ages 16+ 

Dirty Date Night: Couples Special  /  $160 per couple

No prior experience is required. Our instructor will show and assist you and your partner with the basic techniques of throwing on the potter’s wheel. You will get to keep the bowl or cylinder you have successfully created. We will glaze and fire it for you with a glaze of your choosing, and we will email you to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up.

Want to sign up with another couple for a Double Dirty Date Night? No problem! Just contact us to add two participants to your booking and we'll add an hour of instruction to make sure everyone gets the assistance they need. Double Dirty Date Nights are 6-9pm, $320.

Hand-Building

Adult Hand-Building Basic  /  $250

Participants will create functional vessels or sculptural objects by exploring the fundamentals of hand-building. Students will learn the techniques of coil and slab building and glaze their work to create virtually anything they can dream up. The use of tools such as molds, extruded, and the slab roller will be demonstrated. For ages 16+ No previous experience is needed. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, use of each tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 30+ Open Practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play.

 

Adult Hand-Building Intermediate  /  $250

Pottery For All  /  Tues 3:30-5:30pm $240

Tailored for potters 8+ No experience required, and conveniently scheduled for after school: 3:30-5:30pm. Fee includes all instruction, materials, and firings. Support staff are invited to work side-by-side at no extra charge.

 

Family Clay  /  Saturday 12-2pm

The entire family can explore the fundamental techniques of hand-building and an introduction to the wheel. We will learn the techniques of pinch pots, coils and slabs and glaze your work to create virtually anything you can dream up. The use of tools such as molds, pottery wheel, and the slab roller will be demonstrated. No previous experience is needed. Course fee includes 25 pounds of clay, tool kit, shelf space, all glazes and firings, plus additional 30+ Open Practice hours in which students are encouraged to practice and play. Hand-Built Mugs  /  April 10 & 24  6-8pm

2-Session Workshop with Annette McMahon

Learn the fundamentals of hand-building while creating two unique mugs. Build and embellish on the first date -- finish and glaze on the second. For ages 16+. Course fee includes all instruction and materials, firings, use of tools, and glazes.

Cozy Cup  /  April 11 6-8pm or April 20 10am-12pm

1-Session Workshop with Darlene Aspinwall

No Experience Necessary! Wrap your hands around this sweet cozy cup. In this 1-Session Workshop participants will build and detail their cozy cup. We will glaze and fire them for you with a glaze of your choosing and we will email you to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up. For ages 12+. Course fee includes all materials, glazes, firings, and use of studio tools. 

4 piece Espresso Cup Set  /  April 15 & April 29 1-3pm

1-Session Workshop with Annette McMahon

No Experience Necessary! In this 2-Session Workshop participants will build a set of 4 espresso cups during the first class. At the second class you will learn to glaze your pieces. We will fire them for you and we will email you to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up. For High School age and up. Course fee includes all materials, glazes, firings, and use of studio tools. 

Bathroom Set / April 16 & April 30 6-8pm

2-Session Workshop with Sarah Crossgrove

No Experience Necessary! In this 2-Session Workshop participants will build and embellish a soap dish and toothbrush holder on the first date -- finish and glaze on the second. We will email you to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up. Includes all instruction and materials, firings, use of tools, and glazes. For ages 12+

Garden Lantern  /  April 18 & May 2  1-3pm

2-Session Workshop with Annette McMahon

No experience necessary. In this workshop you will create your own unique lantern using familiar design elements and techniques. Students will gain skills in slab building, functional ceramic design, and glazing. Includes all instruction and materials, firings, and use of tools. For teens and adults.Course fee includes all materials, glazes, firings, and use of studio tools. 

Angular Teapot  /  April 28 10am-1pm

No Experience Necessary! In this 1-Session, 3 hour Workshop participants will build and detail an angular teapot. We will glaze and fire it for you with a glaze of your choosing and we will email you to let you know your pieces are ready to be picked up. For Adults only. Course fee includes all materials, glazes, firings, and use of studio tools.

Casual Potters Welcome! We have a variety of studio bisqueware to fit every age, ability, and budget. Choose a mug, bowl, figurine, or serving piece, and get ready to glaze the evening away. We will fire your piece for future pickup. Registration secures your seat and choice of a standard bisqueware piece.

Take arts socializing to the next level. We have a variety of studio bisqueware to fit every budget.
